Once upon a time, my friends went to a cafe on 70th street in Manhattan called Cafe Luxembourg. I have no recollection of why I didn't go, maybe I was busy. Anyway, it was quite the excursion to miss.

The story begins with the coffee pouring. My friend Berto told me that the waiter, while attempting to pour someone's coffee, spilled a bunch of it on the carpet. I have a hard time maintaining composure in public sometimes, and I think I would have lost it in this situation. My mental image of this scene is hilarious.

Another one of my friends, who shall remain anonymous due to the embarrassing nature of the following information, had his infamous "first IBS incident" at the cafe. He spent an hour in the bathroom. This was the first of many similar incidents. Did Cafe Luxembourg give him IBS? We will never know, as the damage is already done.

I wish I was able to go with them, but the sheer entertainment I've derived from imagining what that day was like has also been pretty gratifying.
